*Muir Field Pet Clinic *has served the neighborhood in Madison, Wisconsin for over twenty years. When its founding veterinarian retired, he passed the clinic to Precision Veterinary an independent practice thats been a few miles away for eight years. We're now hiring the primary veterinarian for the Muir Field location: a chance to run your own clinic, your way, with an established team down the road for support and mentorship if you want it.

*Who we're looking for*

You're the kind of vet who cares about the client and the pet. You like talking to pet owners, teaching them something about their animal they didn't know, and seeing families and patients grow up together. You take the long view on a patient's life. You recognize that over 99% of a pet's life happens outside the clinic, you take pride in watching people become better pet owners, and you've never been comfortable with the idea that a sick animal is a sales opportunity.

You want to practice at a sane pace appointments long enough to do it right and you want to make decisions based on what's best for the patient and the client, instead of running them past someone whose job is the quarterly number.

*What this role actually is*

* You're the first and primary veterinarian at our satellite clinic. You run it. Your clinical judgment, your relationships, your call.
* You are not on an island. The satellite is a few miles from our main clinic, which has four full-time DVMs including one of the area's most respected surgeons. You can pull in surgical support, consult on tricky cases, and lean on an established team for backup and coverage.
* An experienced practice manager handles the business and operations side so you're the medical authority without the business-management overhead.
* General small-animal wellness: preventive care, vaccines, diagnostics, dentals, minor procedures, ongoing case management with surgical cases supported by the main clinic.

*About us*

We're privately owned and operated, and we run this practice on a simple idea: the proceeds go toward making a difference. Over eight years, *Precision Veterinary* has built relationships with more than 150 area rescues and shelters and provided the care behind *60,000+ adoptions*, covering millions in medical costs along the way. The people who own this practice are the people who work in it and they have no interest in leaving, selling, or buying a boat. Muir Field will remain a neighborhood vet clinic and a way to continue to provide for pets post-adoption for the rest of their lives.

*About the team*

The on-site team will be small to start. It's you, your tech, occasionally a surgeon, and the practice manager. The clinic has space for two DVMs, and we're remodeling + updating to expand to that. The main clinic nearby has four DVMs and about ten support staff. We have unusually good retention with our techs and assistants most have been here for years, partly because we're careful to avoid drama when we hire, and partly because we just don't abuse people.

Were mostly slightly awkward introverts, because, well, that seems to be most of who works in vet med but the team is genuinely good people, they work hard, and they're easy to get along with. (A weirdly large number of them also just hang out at the clinic when they're not working, which seems like a good sign.)

*The schedule*

The clinic is currently open during normal business hours but that can be shifted. The team manages its own coverage. When you want or need time off, we work out coverage within the team. Open to full-time or 0.8 if that fits your life better.

*Compensation*

Most of what's listed is negotiable, and the broad strokes should look a lot like any other good private general practice in the area.

Pay: $125,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
