Payroll Specialist

Compensation: $60,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience About the Opportunity A well-established and growing industrial services company is seeking a Payroll & Accounting Specialist to join its corporate accounting team in West Odessa, Texas . Reporting directly to the Controller, this role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll while supporting a variety of accounting functions that are critical to the organization's success. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys balancing payroll responsibilities with hands-on accounting work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Key Responsibilities Payroll Process weekly payroll accurately and on schedule. Review employee time records and verify payroll accuracy. Maintain payroll records, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and retirement contributions. Process payroll taxes, deposits, and quarterly payroll tax filings. Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Respond to employee payroll questions with professionalism and confidentiality. Maintain payroll and HR records, including electronic filing and documentation. Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll funding. Accounting Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions. Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations. Perform bank reconciliations. Assist with month-end close activities. Review job costing and support financial reporting. Assist with audit preparation and other accounting projects. Partner with the Controller on process improvements and departmental initiatives. Qualifications Must reside in Odessa, TX Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience . Previous accounting experience required. Strong understanding of payroll regulations, payroll tax reporting, and general accounting principles. Experience with Vista Payroll is highly preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
