Veterinary Extern - General Practice

An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students the opportunity to understand daily operations and gain hands-on clinical experience. All NVA hospitals share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners. Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, assisting or performing surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Additionally, externs will practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Externship durations at May Veterinary Clinic typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
