Role Description Service WriterAbout Stevenson Crane Stevenson Crane, Rigging & Heavy Haul is a leading provider of crane rentals, aerial and material-handling equipment, rigging, and heavy-haul services throughout the Midwest. Role Description Stevenson is seeking a full-time, on-site Service Writer to serve as the primary point of contact between customers, technicians, and internal teams. Working closely with the Service Manager, this role keeps service and repair work organized, accurately documented, and moving efficiently from start to finish. Key Responsibilities Work closely with the Service Manager to coordinate daily service operations Create, update, and close service work orders Gather equipment, repair, and customer information Coordinate shop and field service schedules Prepare estimates and obtain customer approvals Track repair progress and communicate job updates Document labor, parts, and warranty information Assist with parts ordering, invoicing, and recordkeeping Collaborate with technicians, parts personnel, and project managers Support a safe, organized, and customer-focused workplace Qualifications Experience in service writing, service coordination, or a similar customer-facing role Equipment, automotive, construction, or heavy-duty industry experience preferred Knowledge of cranes, aerial lifts, material-handling equipment, or mechanical systems is a plus Experience using service management or ERP software Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word Strong computer and keyboarding skills with the ability to enter information quickly and accurately Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills Ability to explain technical information clearly Ability to manage multiple work orders and priorities in a fast-paced environment Basic understanding of estimates, labor, parts, and warranty documentation High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical training preferred Why Join Stevenson?
