Medical AssistantNorth Side Christian Health Center is hiring for a Medical Assistant. The Medical Assistant supports the efficient, safe, and compassionate operation of the clinic by providing both administrative and clinical assistance. NSCHC serves all patients without regard for their ability to pay. We serve everyone seeking the best care available regardless of their religious beliefs, ethnic and cultural background, language spoken, age, sex, and disability status. Our staff provides primary and preventive medical care for patients of all ages, mental and behavioral health services, dental care, and case management.Duties/Responsibilities-Ensures the safe, productive, and efficient operation of the clinic assigned through timely and attentive administrative and clinical support (as authorized or licensed)Ensures all patients enjoy a positive experience, treated with the care and compassion expectedEnsures all patient records and related documents are managed and maintained timely, accurately, and consistent with all HIPAA and related regulations and requirementsEnsures all tasks provided and associated with patient care, patient administrative processes, and related duties comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards, as well as clinic policies and proceduresEnsures all necessary supplies are stocked. Promptly reports when supplies are low and works with Clinical Director to ensure timely reordering is completedDemonstrates proficiency in clinical/technical tasks such as venipuncture, and immunization administration; follows universal precautionsAdministers COVID vaccinations and manages COVID testing when neededPrepares patient charts prior to clinical exams, proactively communicating with providers about specific patient needsMaintains exam rooms according to protocols: Cleans rooms between patient exams to ensure patients' comfort and compliance with infection control standardsPrepares patients for clinical exam/visit, including the collection of typical patient vital metrics (blood pressure, temperature, height, weight etc.)Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticksMaintains specimen integrity by using aseptic technique, following department procedures; observing isolation proceduresPerforms phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs.Assists providers with clinical visits and outpatient office proceduresPerforms clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.Ensures completion of Social Determinants of Health Questionnaire with the patient, referring them to internal resources as applicable.Participates in departmental and organizational quality improvement projects.Assists with other duties as assigned by Clinical Director and/or Practice CoordinatorKnowledge/Skills/Abilities-Establishes favorable working relationships with all staff members associated with center operations, including nurses, physicians, and related staffUpholds and consistently represents the values and mission of the organization. Represents the organization in a highly professional manner at all times.Strong oral and written communication skills, motivational skills, results-oriented, self-motivation, strong relationship building, customer service skillsDemonstrates clear thinking and ability to prioritize as needed, work independently, and problem-solveDemonstrated success in customer service/patient services or working with the general public, preferably in a medical care facilityMust have basic computer skillsFluent in medical terminologyDemonstrated success in managing difficult customer situationsDemonstrates proficiency in clinical/technical tasks such as venipuncture, immunization administration, and handling of lab specimensProlonged sitting and/or standing and moving about throughout the workday; keyboardingLocal travel between clinic sitesRotates evening and Saturday morning shifts with co-workersAttends a minimum of one outreach event per calendar yearPotential exposure to biohazardous materialsCommitment to NSCHC faith-based mission to provide care to all who request it, without judgmentQualifications (Required for Employment) -High school degree or equivalentSuccessful completion of Medical Assistant program required; Certification preferredExperience working with an Electronic Medical Record system.Three years of direct patient care experience required.Experience with pediatrics highly desirableCPR/BLS for adult and childAct 33 with renewalAct 34 with renewalAct 73 FBI Clearance with renewalAnnual influenza vaccineMust obtain or provide proof of (within 14 days of hire): PPD, Tdap, Hepatitis B Immunity, MMR Immunity, Varicella ImmunityComplete self-attestation of fitness for duty within 14 days of hire.
