ED Unit Service Technician Faulkner

Site: Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital, Inc. Job Summary The Unit Service Technician provides a broad range of care and services to patients including but not limited to EKG, phlebotomy, equipment cleaning, and stocking of rooms under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The technician performs a wide range of secretarial duties, including organizing paperwork, answering the phone, paging, and receiving ED patients into the electronic medical record. The technician will also perform 1:1 sitting as necessary and supports the Patient and Family Centered Care model in the ED. Responsibilities Administer patient care services (EKG, phlebotomy, equipment cleaning, room stocking) under nurse supervision. Perform secretarial and administrative duties such as organizing paperwork, answering phone calls, paging, and managing ED patient intake into the electronic medical record. Provide 1:1 sitting support as requested. Promote the Patient and Family Centered Care Model and ensure best practice within the ED setting. Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Licenses and Credentials: Basic Life Support (BLS) – HR only required; Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) – State specific certification; Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – HR only required. Experience Emergency Department: Experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant in an emergency setting (preferred). Intensive Care Unit: One year experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant (preferred). Operating rooms, Perioperative, IV Therapy: Experience as a medical technician or patient care assistant (preferred). Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Adheres to all C.A.R.E. Standards. Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced and often stressful environment. Strong communication skills. Ability to set and reset priorities. Excellent customer service skills. Can work effectively in a high‑critical care environment.
