Key Position Details 1 FTE (80 hours per 2‑week pay period) 10‑hour permanent night shift No weekend rotation Location: 2250 NW 26th St, Owatonna, MN55060‑5503 Shift Length: 10‑hour shift, 40hours per week Union Contract: SEIU‑4‑Owatonna Service Workers – SOW Job Description Performs routine medical laboratory testing and is trained in one or more of the following areas of the laboratory: reception/registration, phlebotomy, specimen collection/processing, and analytical testing departments. May perform manual and automated waived, moderate, and high‑complexity testing. May serve as a trainer for students and new employees in work areas. Responsibilities Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures. Follows all federal regulations including CAP, OSHA, COLA, CLIA, and HIPAA. Provides customer service and manages patient orders: evaluates, verifies, schedules, orders, and releases orders in the electronic medical record. Collects and processes specimens following standardized system protocols; verifies patient identification and uses appropriate collection methods to obtain samples for testing. Maintains education, regulatory, and safety measures. Participates in departmental or system‑wide meetings, projects, or committees as required. Serves as a trainer for students and new employees in work areas. Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Associate’s or‐vocational degree in a related laboratory field including clinical rotations or equivalent routes. Minimum 2 years generalist experience as an MLT; hospital preferred. Minimum 1 year experience in blood bank and prior phlebotomy experience. Knowledge of CLIA defined responsibilities: §493.1425 Standard (moderate complexity) and §493.1495 Standard. Must be able to lift up to 20lb occasionally and up to 10lb frequently. Preferred Qualifications Laboratory or medical laboratory experience. ASCP or AMT laboratory certification preferred; if not currently certified, must obtain certification within 180days of hire. Physical Demands Light work: lifting weight up to 20lb occasionally, and up to 10lb frequently. Pay Range $27.64 to $40.13 per hour. Pay described reflects the base hourly pay range; your starting rate will depend on experience, education, and union agreement. Shift, weekend, and other differentials may increase pay.
