Job Title: Mechatronics & Robotics Technician Job Description
The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician (Maintenance Technician II) supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining, and repairing automated packaging and distribution equipment, including material handling and pneumatic systems. This role focuses on keeping high-speed, robotics-driven conveyor and material handling systems operating safely and efficiently through quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures.
Responsibilities- Install, inspect, repair, and maintain material handling equipment such as conveyors and associated automated systems.
- Perform quality predictive and preventative maintenance routines on material handling, automation, and robotic equipment, following established documentation and procedures.
- Complete and maintain accurate preventative maintenance (PM) records, including PM sheets and related documentation.
- Perform battery changes and conduct preventative maintenance on industrial batteries.
- Enter downtime data into daily logs and ensure all events are recorded clearly and accurately.
- Manage and process work orders within a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including creating, updating, and closing work orders.
- Troubleshoot and identify problems with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems, including automated conveyor systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics to diagnose issues and perform repairs.
- Apply electrical and electronic principles to support diagnostics, repairs, and system optimization.
- Follow and demonstrate safety standards and procedures in all maintenance activities, including adherence to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and facility safety guidelines.
- Track, store, and manage department inventory, including spare parts and maintenance supplies.
- Support building operations by troubleshooting basic input and output functions of control systems.
- Work with PLC-based control systems to assist in troubleshooting and maintaining automated equipment.
- Operate and maintain robotic systems and components within the facility.
- Collaborate with the maintenance and operations teams to drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability and performance.
- Use Microsoft Office applications to document work, communicate status updates, and maintain maintenance-related reports.
- At least 2+ years of experience conducting quality predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on industrial or automated equipment.
- 2+ years of experience in the repair of material handling equipment (MHE) or automated conveyor systems and controls.
- 2+ years of experience reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
- 2+ years of knowledge and practical application of electrical and electronic principles.
- 2+ years of experience following and demonstrating safety standards in an industrial or maintenance environment.
- At least 1+ year of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing issues with MHE systems.
- At least 1+ year of experience using Microsoft Office products and applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with automated conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, or industrial environments performing maintenance on complex systems and industrial equipment, including diagnostics, inspections, troubleshooting, repairing, and creating work orders.
- Specific experience with conveyors and other material handling equipment (MHE), including controls and robotics.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic input and output functions of building operations systems.
- Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage work orders and maintenance activities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with a desire to learn and grow within reliability and maintenance engineering.
- Experience with MHE safety standards in accordance with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines and facility safety standards.
- Associate degree or higher from a vocational school or college with a focus in mechanical or electrical fields.
- 2+ years of apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the mechanical or electrical field.
- 2+ years of experience working with PLC-based control systems.
- Experience with robotic operation and maintenance in a high-speed, automated environment.

Work EnvironmentYou work in a large, high-speed distribution facility that relies heavily on automation and robotic components, with extensive conveyor and material handling systems. Performance is measured through data and metrics, with systems in place to track whether expectations are being met, while day-to-day work is not micromanaged. The role requires comfort with being on your feet for extended periods, walking significant distances (such as approximately 10,000 steps per day), and lifting up to 49 pounds as part of regular duties. You operate within a structured shift environment and must be open to any 10-hour shift, as positions are available across multiple schedules in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Mesa, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $32.50 - $32.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
