What You Will Do Johnson Controls has a phenomenal opportunity for a Senior Application Engineer. You will support the sale of Chiller products through the JCI HVAC System Branches, as well as JCI sales/marketing personnel in export markets. This role has a strong impact on the success of the Data Center Chiller Solutions business. The support is primarily executed by providing pre‑sale technical assistance to branch office personnel, answering system‑level product application inquiries, generating special quotations, and supporting order execution via interactions with the Order Management and Contract Engineering teams. Communication and integration with Chiller Solutions product team activities is required to track new product development and acquire/retain knowledge of all assigned products that are current or in their lifecycle. This is a hybrid position based in either San Antonio, TX, or New Freedom, PA. Various relocation packages are available. How You Will Do It Daily interaction with field sales personnel providing guidance on application and installation of assigned Chiller Solutions equipment in HVAC systems. Interaction with field personnel to give systems applications advice, creative solutions to unique customer needs, and use competitor knowledge to create advantages. Participate in the development of tools and documentation to support field sales and automate processes for common inquiries. Be proficient in the use of in‑house engineering systems and documentation to aid in responding to inquiries for product details. Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to recommend innovative solutions for enhancing the reliability, scalability, and sustainability of chiller systems in data center applications. Design and customize chiller systems tailored to data center environments, ensuring optimal cooling efficiency and energy utilization. Assist and counsel sales personnel in resolving equipment, job, or code challenges. Effectively communicate and follow up with sales personnel, design engineers and product management teams to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and responses are efficiently executed. Obtain supplier quotations to communicate cost and lead time for special product requests. Demonstrate a high level of knowledge of products (JCI and competitors), market conditions and direction, external influences of industry organizations, governmental regulations, technologies, and their effect on the business. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree 3+ years of experience preferably in the HVAC industry or a related Chiller Technology field Knowledge of the principles of refrigeration systems and associated equipment Up to 15% travel for factory visits, customer site visits, and field visits related to training Compensation HIRING SALARY RANGE: $90,000 - $120,000.
