Operations Manager
Accounting Firm Operations & Team Accountability
We are seeking a highly organized, process-driven Operations Manager to help lead and enforce operational excellence within a growing accounting firm. This is not a passive administrative role — we are looking for someone who thrives on accountability, execution, and follow-through.
The ideal candidate is a strong operator who can step into an established environment, ensure systems and workflows are followed consistently, and hold team members accountable for completing tasks on time and at a high standard.
This role is perfect for someone who naturally takes ownership, is comfortable having difficult conversations, and knows how to create structure, urgency, and accountability without micromanaging.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations and workflow management across the firm
- Ensure team members consistently follow established processes and SOPs
- Monitor task completion, deadlines, and client deliverables
- Identify overdue work, operational bottlenecks, and accountability gaps
- Hold staff accountable for performance expectations and timelines
- Conduct regular workflow check-ins and status meetings
- Implement systems for tracking productivity, deadlines, and follow-through
- Collaborate with leadership to improve operational efficiency and team performance
- Create a culture of ownership, responsiveness, and execution
- Escalate issues proactively before they become client-impacting problems
- Maintain high operational standards while improving team consistency
Ideal Candidate
- Strong operational leadership experience, preferably within accounting, finance, tax, bookkeeping, or professional services environments
- Naturally assertive and confident communicator
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented
- Comfortable managing strong personalities and enforcing accountability
- Ability to gain respect from teams while maintaining professionalism
- Proven track record of improving execution, follow-through, and operational consistency
- Experience implementing or managing workflows, SOPs, task management systems, or project tracking tools
- High sense of urgency and ownership
- Does not let tasks “fall through the cracks”
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in an accounting firm, CPA firm, bookkeeping company, or financial services environment
- Operations management, office management, or project management background
- Familiarity with workflow management tools such as Asana, ClickUp, Monday.com, Karbon, Jetpack Workflow, or similar systems
- Experience managing remote or hybrid teams is a plus
