Data Architect

Responsibilities The consultant will work with the Application Engineering and Architecture teams as an Application Data Architect to drive critical system change efforts and support delivery of robust, reliable solutions. Design and implement scalable database migration strategies to solve complex business solutions. Serve as a subject‑matter expert in data management; research, analyze, recommend, and select technical approaches for solving development and integration problems. Monitor database efficiency, ensure high availability, and maintain performance through troubleshooting and fine‑tuning. Assist in implementing and maintaining cloud database environments, troubleshoot, and resolve database performance issues. Scope of the project includes deliverable base tasks: Deliverable 1: Analysis, Design, Implementation, Testing, Support and Knowledge Transfer : Determine impact of database migration to existing applications. Propose one or more design options with level‑of‑effort estimate and target delivery date. Document the selected design option. Develop approved database changes within existing technical environments, following the approved promotion path and QA/testing methodology. Perform internal unit/QA testing and facilitate user acceptance testing. Support best practices for database efficiency and performance. Update and enhance system documentation to keep it synchronized with system and environment changes. Provide knowledge transfer of reporting efforts, escalated system issues, and database changes and enhancements via collaborative documentation, code commenting, cross‑training, and job shadowing. Conduct knowledge transfer at CalPERS through regular scheduled meetings and review of documentation. Document best practices and lessons learned during the project. Requirements Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming; at least ten (10) years of that experience must include responsible project‑level analysis and development of computer programs to meet desired results. Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience as an application architect, providing solutions aligned with enterprise architecture and business processes. Minimum of twelve (12) years of experience working with public pension systems or experience with governmental retirement benefits and processes similar to CalPERS. Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience with Oracle 11g, Oracle 19c, PL/SQL, and SQL. Minimum of fifteen (15) years providing technical expertise and hands‑on support in consolidation and migration of databases to new platforms. Minimum of five (5) years experience with version control using Git and web‑based repositories (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.) and ticketing and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence. Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience monitoring database efficiency, ensuring high availability, and maintaining performance through troubleshooting and fine‑tuning database environments. Experience implementing and maintaining cloud database environments (AWS and/or Azure), troubleshooting, and resolving performance issues. #J-18808-Ljbffr Jobtailor
