Licensed Veterinary Technician

Requirements

  • Licensed Veterinary Technician
  • At least one year’s experience as a veterinary assistant or technician

Duties

  • Administer treatments to pets
  • Demonstrate proper Fear Free animal restraint for examination
  • Communicate effectively with clients
  • Greet clients/patients in exam rooms and obtain history, TPR and concerns for the veterinarian.
  • Create estimates and build invoices for routine wellness visits, treatment plans and surgeries/procedures.
  • Review estimates/invoices with clients, obtain approval and answer questions/address concerns.
  • Document communications and assist veterinarian in medical charting based on questions/concerns addressed, treatments performed and medications prescribed.
  • Perform blood draws, nail trims, ear cleanings, bandaging and other treatments as instructed by veterinarian
  • Administer IV, IM and SQ injections
  • Safely and effectively restrain patients of various species for examination and treatment.
  • Prep and run in house laboratory diagnostics such as bloodwork, rapid tests, ear cytology's and fecal tests.
  • Communicate test results and follow up care with clients per veterinarian’s recommendations.
  • Fill prescriptions as prescribed by veterinarian.
  • Assist inventory manager in creating, logging, ordering and correcting inventory items.
  • Accurately log controlled medications in PIMS.
  • Assist in answering phone calls and scheduling appointments.
  • Set catheters, intubate patients, clip and clean surgical sites and other pre-surgical preparation as needed.
  • Monitor surgery patients, documenting vitals while anesthetized and adjusting anesthesia under guidance of veterinarian.
  • Perform dental cleanings.
  • Assist in radiography and ultrasonography.
  • Create health certificates for veterinarian review and signature.
  • Assist in cleaning, restocking and prepping exam rooms, treatment area and surgery room for future patients.
  • Share prescription authorizations with patients via online pharmacy portal.
  • Prepare/stock cooler and ambulance prior to mobile appointments.
  • Monitor technician email and reply to inquiries as needed.
  • Complete laboratory submission forms and pack samples for shipment to external labs.
  • Work with others as a part of a team for providing exceptional pet health

Salary: $18 - $26 Hourly
