Investigator Position

This Investigator conducts extraordinarily difficult and complex investigations of violations of the False Claims Act, as well as other civil enforcement actions within the jurisdiction of the United States Attorney's Office. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Investigator support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of South Carolina, located in Columbia, South Carolina, focusing in the areas of civil investigations, affirmative civil enforcement. Typical work assignments will include:

• Serving as lead agent in teams including investigators, auditors, and legal support staff from other law enforcement agencies.
• Coordinating large investigations with other federal or state agencies overseeing programs that receive federal funding to effectively prosecute civil enforcement actions.
• Planning and conducting extraordinarily complex and difficult civil, criminal, and fraud cases/investigations, most often of a confidential nature, involving target organizations with complex organizational structures, ownership and financial relations, and a large number of primary and subsidiary activities.
• Initiating contacts with federal, state and local officials and other organizations and individuals related to subject of investigation for the purpose of gathering facts, obtaining statements, learning sequences of events, obtaining explanations and otherwise advancing investigative objectives.
• Analyzing data, reports and other sources to identify possible subjects for investigation.
