Job Description
Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse

Job Description

This position maintains adequate respiratory and cardiac status of patients awakening from anesthesia. The PACU Nurse continually assesses the patient, carries out doctor's orders while maintaining patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities

• Regularly assess patients/clients needs and provide skilled nursing services as prescribed by the physician authorized plan of care, and accepted standards of nursing practice.
• Provide direct resident care, including medication administration, treatments, call lights, assisting with transfers, responding to alarms, etc.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment plans and make suggestions or participate in updating/revising treatment plans in collaboration with other team members, utilizing current information to improve patient care.
• Process physician/provider orders and perform physician ordered care accurately, completely and in a timely manner.
• Follow up regarding medication changes and order clarifications.

Schedule

This is a Days 12-hour shift position with variable start times between 8-10 AM. On-call is not required, but occasional weekend coverage may be necessary.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• 2+ years of PACU experience - Required
• Skills Checklist, current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty (PACU) - Required
• 2 Supervisory Reference Forms completed within the last two years - Required
• LARA and/or Nursys must state Active Michigan/MI License - Required
• Active American Heart Association BLS - Required
• Active American Heart Association ACLS - Required
