Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a 32-bed surgical unit requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work on a 32-bed Med/Surg-Tele unit within a Level 3 Trauma, Certified Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center facility
• Patient population includes total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder, appendectomy, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tube management
• Average unit census of 28 patients
• RN patient ratios of 1:4-6 days and 1:5-6 nights, with surge staffing up to 1:7-8
• 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
• Weekend rotation is every other weekend
• Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks
• Possible low census call back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
• Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed and within scope of practice
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
• Core skillset includes cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Support team includes CNAs, unit receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
• Telemetry monitoring and tech support available
• Orientation includes NEO plus 2 days of departmental orientation
• Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
• Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays, with any shortfall added to the end of the contract
• Navy scrub color required
• Free parking provided
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
• Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
