Title: Packaging Engineer II/Project Manager - Product Development (Cosmetics / Consumer Goods)

Location: Clark, NJ

Work Arrangement: 3 days on site and 2 days remote (Clark, NJ)

Assignment Length: 7-12 months, Covering maternity leave

\n

Position Overview

\n

\n
• We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and manage cross-functional product development projects, including new product launches, product portfolio updates, and manufacturing plant transfers.
\n
• The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills, advanced Excel proficiency, and experience in product development, preferably within the cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food, or consumer goods industries.
\n
• This role requires a strategic, hands-on leader who can independently manage projects from concept through launch, inspire cross-functional teams, identify risks, and drive projects forward with minimal supervision.
\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Develop and manage project timelines, milestones, deliverables, and risk mitigation plans to ensure on-time launches in compliance with quality standards.
\n
• Lead end-to-end product development and launch projects, including strategic product updates, plant transfers, and new product introductions.
\n
• Present project reviews, communicate progress, and escalate risks to operational and divisional leadership.
\n
• Partner with Marketing, Operations, Research & Development, and other cross-functional teams to define product concepts, feasibility, profitability, and launch requirements.
\n
• Lead project review meetings, resolve roadblocks, and ensure accountability across stakeholders.
\n
• Evaluate project feasibility based on cost, timelines, quality, and sustainability.
\n
• Coordinate manufacturing plant transfers and support product harmonization, profitability, and sustainability initiatives.
\n
• Manage project documentation, approvals, meeting minutes, action items, and follow-ups.
\n
• Support feasibility costing, cost of goods (COG) analysis, and value analysis initiatives.
\n
• Coordinate packaging development, component research, and technical feasibility assessments.
\n
• Conduct risk assessments with cross-functional teams and develop contingency plans to maintain project timelines.
\n
• Provide guidance and development support to team members on project execution, costing, and product development decisions.
\n
• Maintain awareness of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in product development and packaging.

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Operations, or a related technical discipline.
\n
• 4–6+ years of experience in product or packaging development and project management.
\n
• Product development experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, food, consumer goods, or a related industry.
\n
• Strong project management skills, including timeline development, risk management, stakeholder coordination, and project execution.
\n
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Microsoft 365.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
\n
• Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
\n
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently and drive results with minimal supervision.
\n
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships across cross-functional teams.
\n
• Ability to work onsite, as required for this position.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical packaging development experience.
\n
• Experience managing product launches for global markets.
\n
• Experience with packaging components, feasibility costing, cost of goods analysis, and product profitability.
\n
• Experience working with cross-functional teams across Marketing, Operations, Manufacturing, and Research & Development.
