Early Intervention Specialist I/II, EOAC

Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network (Previously known as Heart of Texas MHMR)
Performs activities related to early intervention for developmentally delayed children. Work involves communicating with other community providers and EOAC facility staff related to improving childcare workers’ knowledge of child development, promoting cooperation between individuals and community civic groups related to children and their needs, assist in coordinating the delivery of childcare services. EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
Experience with developmentally delayed children 0-3 years of age preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's or master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major courses in child development, early childhood education, special education, child psychology, elementary education, home economics with emphasis in child development, or related social services. - Assists in screening and referral activities for maximum benefit of community services and agency coordination.
- Conduct therapeutic activities, prepare materials for therapeutic activities, and maintain an adequate supply of such materials.
- Counsels with families of children who are developmentally delayed.
- Participates as part of a developmental assessment team.
- Provides case management to families.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Experience with developmentally delayed children 0-3 years of age preferred.
Education:
Bachelor's or master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major courses in child development, early childhood education, special education, child psychology, elementary education, home economics with emphasis in child development, or related social services. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of childcare practices and the relation of safe, healthy, and supportive environments to child growth and development.
- Ability to use evaluation instruments and provide technical assistance relative to services for children; and to foster communication between adults and children.
- Must be able to work equally well as a member of a team and independently.
- Must possess good verbal and written skills.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
- Must be able to lift up to 15lbs.
- Must have excellent time management skills to do clinical documentation in a timely manner.
