About the Position

Job Title

Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Location

Utica, NY | Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Expected 36 or 48 hours per week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate-level nursing care to adult patients (18+) in a 64-bed unit, including 15 designated Neuro beds
• Manage patients presenting with common diagnoses including Neuro, Cardiac, Trauma, Respiratory (COPD), DKA, Sepsis, MI, CV Stepdown, and post-operative conditions
• Operate and monitor specialty equipment including temporary pacers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo systems
• Care for patients on chronic ventilators (unable to wean) in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
• Float to other units as required based on staffing and patient census needs
• Document and manage patient care using EPIC EMR

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license — all RN licenses must be verified and in good standing
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in an IMCU, PCU, or Stepdown setting
• Current AHA BLS certification required
• Current ACLS certification required
• Current NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
• Completed skills checklist matching the IMC/PCU/Stepdown specialty required at time of submission
• Local candidates are welcome to apply (local rates apply for candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience in an IMCU or PCU setting
• Experience managing patients on chronic ventilators and working alongside Respiratory Therapy
• Familiarity with neurological patient populations and neuro-specific monitoring
• Experience with arterial lines, chest tubes, temporary pacemakers, and BiPAP management
