Cash Applications Specialist (Hybrid | Contract-to-Hire)

A stable and growing organization is seeking a Cash Applications Specialist to join its Accounts Receivable team. This role supports high-volume payment application and cash posting in a fast-paced environment. It's an excellent opportunity for someone with strong attention to detail who enjoys research, reconciliation, and working with financial data.

Position Summary

This role functions as part of a collaborative AR team responsible for applying customer payments to accounts, researching payment details, and resolving discrepancies within required deadlines. The ideal candidate thrives in a high-volume environment and maintains accuracy while managing multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply customer payments including ACH, wire, and check transactions to AR accounts
• Handle payment exceptions and research discrepancies
• Post high-volume lockbox payments using remittance information
• Read and interpret detailed remittance data for accurate application
• Maintain high daily posting volume with strong accuracy
• Partner with internal AR teams to resolve account issues
• Assist with complex or escalated payment applications
• Support customer account maintenance and service needs

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; Associate degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 2+ years of high-volume AR or cash applications experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
• HighRadius experience a plus
• Strong research and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
• Comfortable adapting to change and process improvements
• Willingness to work additional hours during month-end close when needed
