Veterinary Extern

Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with hands‑on clinical experience and exposure to day‑to‑day operations in a supportive, excellent‑medicine environment. Responsibilities Gather patient histories and perform physical examinations. Create and implement treatment plans. Conduct diagnostics and dentistry services. Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures. Manage medical care of patients. Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Program Details Externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Eligibility & Stipend All veterinary students are encouraged to participate. Students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel and living expense stipend.
