Educational Support Specialist

The Educational Support Specialist is a dynamic and multi-faceted position responsible for supporting student placement, assisting in classroom instruction, and contributing to school-wide assistance efforts. The role involves serving as a substitute teacher, collaborating with faculty and staff, providing academic support, and participating in the coordination of educational services. The Educational Support Specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of various educational programs, fostering an inclusive learning environment, and supporting the academic growth of all students.

Required qualifications include authorization to work in the United States, a valid ADE Substitute Certificate, and a valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card for educators through The Arizona Department of Education.

Key responsibilities, skills, and knowledge include assuming responsibility for classroom management and instruction in the absence of the primary teacher, delivering lesson plans effectively, providing individualized support for students, adapting teaching strategies to meet diverse needs, assisting in the placement of students in appropriate academic programs, collaborating with faculty and staff to monitor student progress, providing support for students requiring additional interventions or accommodations, serving as an active member of the School-Wide Assistance Team, helping coordinate and implement individualized support plans, contributing to the development of school-wide initiatives, supporting classroom teachers in planning and implementing lessons, assisting in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials, collaborating with other school personnel to ensure comprehensive support for all students, assisting in gathering and maintaining student data, providing input on student performance, and participating in professional development opportunities.

Skill, knowledge, and ability requirements include performing multiple technical tasks, reading technical information, facilitating group discussions, solving practical problems, gathering and classifying data, working with diverse groups, meeting deadlines, setting priorities, working as part of a team, and working with constant interruptions.

Physical requirements include lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling; climbing and balancing; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and significant fine finger dexterity. The working environment is usually moderate in noise level.
