Project Engineer

Water Resources EngineerRK&K is currently hiring a Water Resources Engineer to work in our Roanoke, VA office. The Engineer should have experience with some or all the following areas to support municipal and transportation project designs: Stormwater Management, Erosion and Sediment Control, Hydrology & Hydraulics Design, Floodplain/Scour Modeling, and Watershed Studies, for various exciting projects throughout Virginia and surrounding States.Essential FunctionDevelop, evaluate, and design stormwater management facilities to support municipal and transportation infrastructure projects across RK&K's vast portfolioAnalyze and model stormwater conveyance systems and storage designsHydrologic and Hydraulic (H&H) design of culverts, bridges and dams and produce engineering drawings for stormwater control BMPs1D and 2D Floodplain analysis using HEC-RAS and PCSWMMAttend and present project status updates at client meetings; Provide excellent client services with a focus on quality and timelinessMeet and work directly with other design team members including project manager, project engineers, design technicians, drafters, surveyors, contractors, inspectors, public agency officials, and clientsDevelop civil engineering plans using AutoDesk Civil3D, MicroStation, OpenRoads and GIS while applying knowledge of local, state, and federal design standardsPerform field investigations to collect data, field measurements, photographs, sketches, and verify surveys as neededProvide office and site visit support for projects in constructionLead tasks, plan budgets, manage subcontractorsRequired Skills and ExperienceB.S. in Civil / Environmental Engineering or similar fieldFour (4) years of experience in Water Resources EngineeringE.I.T. registration minimum requirementMicroStation and/or AutoCAD experienceCandidates will work in a diverse and challenging environment and must be capable of working on and coordinating simultaneous tasks and have ability to coordinate technical matters with public and private entitiesPreferred Skills and ExperienceRegistered P.E. highly preferredHEC-RAS and/or PCSWMM experienceCivil3D/ORD experiencePondpack, HydroCAD, or similar stormwater routing softwareOther DutiesThis job description indicates the general nature and levels of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA).
