Saber Power Services is seeking a professional, dedicated individual with a positive outlook for an Operations Support Admin position in our Rosharon office. JOB SUMMARY:
Working under the supervision of the Lead Project Controls Specialist, the Project Controls Specialist II is responsible for independently managing project controls functions across multiple projects and supporting the Field Service management team with advanced financial tracking, forecasting, and operational oversight. This role goes beyond administrative support and requires ownership of project financial performance, proactive identification of risks, and implementation of process improvements. The Project Controls Specialist II will serve as a key liaison between Field Service, Finance, Accounting, and Sales to ensure accurate reporting, strong cost control, and successful project execution. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, the ability to lead initiatives, mentor junior team members, and drive consistency across project controls practices. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Financial Management & Cost Control (Advanced)
- Own and manage project budgets, forecasts, and actuals across multiple projects.
- Perform detailed variance analysis, identify cost risks, and proactively recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze labor productivity, material usage, and equipment costs to drive margin improvement.
- Partner with procurement and accounting to ensure accurate cost allocation, PO management, and AP/AR alignment.
- Support financial close processes and provide accurate project-level financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain accurate project forecasts (3+9, quarterly, and annual projections).
- Collaborate with Field Service leadership to align operational plans with financial targets.
- Identify trends and provide insights to support business decision-making.
- Assist leadership in planning backlog conversion and revenue pacing.
- Oversee invoicing processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with contract terms.
- Review and approve invoice packages and supporting documentation.
- Resolve complex billing issues with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with Saber Power standards.
- Drive implementation and consistency of project controls standards and best practices.
- Maintain and audit project documentation including forecasts, cost reports, and change order logs.
- Ensure compliance with MSAs, contracts, and internal governance requirements.
- Lead project kickoff alignment to ensure budgets, scope, and expectations are clearly defined.
- Act as a key point of contact between Field Service, Finance, Accounting, and Sales.
- Partner with Sales during project handoff to ensure financial clarity and risk identification.
- Provide guidance to Regional Managers on project financial performance and risks.
- Lead meetings and present project financial status to leadership as needed.
- Mentor and train Assistant and Project Controls Specialist I team members.
- Identify inefficiencies and lead process improvement initiatives across project controls workflows.
- Support development and standardization of tools, templates, and reporting methods.
- Perform all other tasks as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Finance, Construction Management, or related field)
- 5+ years of relevant experience in project controls, finance, or operations support
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills preferred)
- Demonstrated experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
- Excellent communication and presentation skills - written and verbal
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to prioritize, lead initiatives, and work independently
- Experience mentoring or leading junior team members preferred
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
