Shop AssistantThe Shop Assistant provides essential support within Service Center shop operations, assisting the Mechanic and Lead Mechanic with daily tasks related to equipment maintenance, shop organization, inventory handling, and facility upkeep. This role performs light preventive maintenance, minor repairs, fabrication support, cleaning, and equipment prep, while contributing to an organized and safe working environment. Shop Assistants also support intercompany fleet movements, transporting vehicles between Service Centers and the Home Office as required. This position is ideal for individuals developing mechanical skills or entering the fleet maintenance field.Maintenance & Mechanical SupportAssists Mechanics and Lead Mechanics with day-to-day shop dutiesPerforms light PM services, including: Checking fluidsChanging air filtersBasic lubricationBattery checksSimple inspectionsPerforms minor mechanical repairs under supervisionSupports fabrication work (grinding, cutting, prep tasks)Cleans equipment, attachments, and small machinesPrepares units for service deployment or returnShop Organization & Facility CleaningKeeps the shop floor clean, organized, and free of hazardsOrganizes tools, hoses, hardware, and suppliesManages storage areas, bins, parts shelves, and supply roomsEmpties trash, maintains cleanliness of equipment bays, and improves shop layoutInventory & Parts SupportAssists with inventory counts, stocking, labeling, and parts organizationHelps with receiving parts and checking them against purchase ordersTracks shop supplies and alerts Mechanics or Lead Mechanics when inventory is lowFleet Movements & DrivingDrives company vehicles to support intercompany fleet transfersTransports vehicles between Service Centers and the Home OfficeAssists with fueling, staging, parking, and vehicle organizationFollows all company driving policies and insurance underwriting requirementsWinter Season OperationsAll field workers and field managers are expected to participate in snow removal operations as needed and at management's direction.
