Lead Producer
Pubitygroup
Pubity Group reaches one of the biggest Gen Z audiences in social. Most of what that audience watches is reactive, built around what’s already happening. This role exists to build the other half: a slate of formats that aren’t tied to a single moment, that can run week after week, and that viewers would come back for. You’ll own the long and short-form development slate end to end. You’ll own the pipeline, set the standards and make the decisions around what gets built, piloted and scaled. You’ll build out a team, direct the producers and resources behind each format, set the bar for what a pilot needs to prove, and be the person the Head of Studio comes to for an honest view on what’s working. Six months in, success isn’t "did we make some videos?" It’s "how many shows do we have, and what’s the pipeline behind them?" Key Responsibilities Slate Strategy & Development Own the development slate: what’s in development, what’s piloting, what’s scaling, and what’s been paused or discontinued, and why. Spot formats worth building from what’s already working across Pubity Group’s channels, trends and audience data, rather than starting from a blank page. Set the bar for each format before it earns a production slot, including cost, what it needs to prove and what “working” looks like in numbers. Keep a live pipeline of formats in progress at all times, sized to keep production consistently fed rather than developed one at a time. Format Development Shape loose ideas into shootable formats: define the hook, structure, cast or talent, and what makes someone watch episode two. Direct the producers and development resource working on formats through the pipeline, reviewing and sharpening their thinking rather than just signing it off. Decide where you develop a format yourself versus where you delegate it, and hold the standard from a distance. Production & Pilots Take formats from greenlight to shot pilot, booking time with the Pubity Production Hub to support the creation of the content. Set the shoot plan and pilot brief, oversee the pilot batch, and get it edited and out inside a defined production window. Manage the trade-off between speed and quality at pilot stage across multiple formats at once. A pilot needs to prove the format, not be the finished product. Scaling & Performance Read pilot performance against a defined bar, including views, retention, engagement and repeat watch, and make the call on what scales, what gets reworked, and what gets paused or discontinued. Take anything that clears the bar into an ongoing run, adjusting format, cadence or platform based on what the pilot data actually showed. Build the read-out on slate performance, not just format by format, so the Head of Studio sees where the pipeline is strong and where it’s thin. Leadership & Cross-Functional Working Work day to day with the Production Hub to plan and prioritise shoots across the whole slate, not just your own formats. Keep the Head of Studio and Co-Founders close on pipeline status, pilot results and scaling decisions. This role sets direction on formats, not just executes them. Work closely with the Brand Strategy and Productisation teams to ensure shows can be packaged and presented to commercial clients or as part of pitches as soon as they’re ready. Set the standard for what good development looks like across the team and bring on or direct additional producers as the slate grows. What we’re looking for Track record developing or producing short-form video for a social-first audience at scale. You can point to a slate of formats you’ve built, not just content you’ve made. Experience directing or mentoring other producers or developers, with the judgement to know when to get hands-on and when to hold the line from a distance. Strong editorial judgement and a clear point of view on what makes a format compelling, repeatable and worth scaling. Fluent in what makes short-form content perform on TikTok, Reels and Shorts specifically, and how that differs by platform. Confident reading performance data across multiple formats at once and making the call from it. You’re comfortable pausing a format you like because the data says it isn’t working, and scaling one you didn’t expect to succeed. Experience working through shared or hub-based production resources and prioritising that resource across competing formats. What good looks like A live pipeline of format ideas at any given time, sized to the slate rather than a single project worked in isolation. At least six formats, with multiple episodes each, moved through pilot and into a clear scaling decision within the first six months. Pilots get shot, edited and reviewed quickly across the slate. The bottleneck should never be a format sitting waiting for a decision. A clear, honest read-out on why the slate is or isn’t working, backed by data rather than opinion, delivered without being asked. Nice to have Experience pitching formats to brands, creators or platform partners. Hands-on shooting or editing experience, enough to brief a shoot properly and spot a problem on set. Experience working across US and UK content styles or audiences. Experience building or growing a development function from a small base. We are determined to create a diverse group at all levels of our company and we welcome all members of the community to apply for openings with us. As a leading Gen-Z social publisher, we have a powerful global platform to better represent our audience and enable those that do not have equal opportunities to have their voices heard. #J-18808-Ljbffr
