Director of Data Engineering and Analytics

Merck seeks a Director of Data Engineering and Analytics to lead a newly created team within Small Molecule Science & Technology. This role translates data and analytics priorities into execution across a matrixed organization, driving digital transformation and measurable business impact in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Drive execution of data and analytics priorities across Small Molecule Science & Technology with measurable business impact
Translate strategy into implementation plans, milestones, and value metrics across matrixed partners
Lead data engineering initiatives to build robust pipelines and ensure data quality and accessibility
Establish user communities and drive adoption of analytics capabilities supporting process monitoring and continuous verification
Represent business priorities in data governance forums and track progress against delivery and value realization

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field plus 10 years experience (or Master's plus 8 years)
Demonstrated leadership in pharmaceutical manufacturing, technical operations, or data science in regulated environments
Deep understanding of pharmaceutical unit operations across drug substance, product, packaging, and analytical sciences
Expertise in manufacturing data systems, process monitoring, and analytics technologies
Proven ability to influence across matrix organizations and drive accountability for results
Advanced degree (MS, MBA, PharmD, or PhD) preferred
Experience with manufacturing data platforms such as DataLynx, SEEQ, MPI, or MES systems preferred
