The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as the installation's Family Advocacy Officer (FAO) directly supervising a staff consisting of social worker(s) and may also include a registered nurse and support personnel. - Carries out program management responsibility for the installation Family Advocacy Program (FAP), ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and meeting customer needs. Holds primary responsibility for installation FAP executive functions.
- Represents FAP to (or on behalf of) the installation, group, squadron leadership through multiple installation and functional area organizations.
- Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
- Carries full professional responsibility for assigned cases presenting a wide range of psychosocial and environmental problems from prevention, intervention, and treatment through case closure and/or transfer.
- Works to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services.

- Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period
- Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest
- This is a Supervisory Position. A 1-year probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement
- This is a Centrally Managed Position in the 0185 Series, Medical Field
- At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0185 occupational series must be met. Selective Placement Factors: Must have the following minimum qualifications IAW DOD directive: (con't)
- (a) Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice clinical social work (LCSW) independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. (b) Two years of experience working in (con't)
- (Con't) the field of child abuse and domestic abuse. Practice will require clinical privileges at the host MTF. Must maintain independent active clinical privileges for the duration of employment. Must sustain current competency to (con't)
- (Con't) practice at the independent level. (c) Must have practiced as an independent licensed clinical social worker within past two years. (d) Government civilian providers must meet all applicable credentialing requirements IAW (con't)
- (Con't) military treatment facility guidelines and be fully qualified to perform within the scope of their practice. (e) Must possess and maintain current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
- This position has been identified as having "regular contact with children". IAW Public Law 101-647 Section 231, and Public Law 102-190, Section 1094. A FBI fingerprint and State Criminal History (con't)
