Job Summary Be a problem solver, trusted advisor, and partner to the people and businesses in our KeyBank communities. Personal Bankers engage clients in deeper conversations to uncover needs and provide guidance and solutions to assist in client financial wellness both in person and through proactive calling efforts. As part of the branch team, the Personal Banker will attract new clients and work with existing clients to develop and expand relationships based on their unique financial goals, leading to client confidence in their finances. The Personal Banker is client‑first, sales‑driven, self‑motivated, and competitive. Strong teamwork, effective communication, and confidence are critical for this role. Essential Functions Embodies a strong client experience culture, being present with every client and teammate and realizing the impact we can have on their day, personally, professionally, and financially. Listens for clues for financial wellness opportunities during in‑person and over the phone client conversations and provides effective, customized recommendations. Consistently attains individual activity, behavior, and outcome goals and expectations. Opens personal and business accounts (consumer checking, small business, various deposit products, home equity, unsecured lending, certificates of deposit, etc.). Develops strong partnerships with branch teammates and line‑of‑business partners, focusing on client acquisition and deepening the relationship with current clients, and managing internal and external centers of influence. Ensures compliance with operational, risk, security and audit procedures and policies, including appropriate documentation of client interactions. Supports branch operations, including assisting with client transactions on the teller line as needed. Participates in and occasionally facilitates in‑person morning huddles and end‑of‑day debriefs. Works on Saturdays as directed by management. Performs other duties as assigned; duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice. Complies with all KeyBank policies and procedures, acting professionally, ethically, and in the best interests of KeyBank’s clients. Education High School Diploma, GED or equivalent business experience (required). Bachelor’s Degree (preferred). Work Experience 1+ years of experience developing current and new customer relationships, achieving sales goals, and building referral sources. Experience with sales is more important than financial services experience. (required) Understanding of consumer credit, including loan‑to‑value, debt‑to‑income, and credit reports. (required) Foundational knowledge of sales and service techniques with clients, including tele‑consulting, outside calling, prospecting, and networking. (required) Comfortable interacting with small‑business clients, overcoming objection, and asking fact‑finding questions to be helpful. (preferred) Demonstrated experience influencing business partners and leveraging centers of influence, such as Key Investment Services, Mortgage and Business Banking sales professionals. (required) Working knowledge of PCs (MS Windows and Office products, including Word, Excel, etc.). (required) Working knowledge of digital technology (mobile, apps, web‑based browsing) and ability to educate clients on digital platforms and capabilities within Key. (required) Licenses and Certifications Notary License (preferred). Skills Knowledgeable about the client’s accounts and business with the bank and uses sound judgment. Demonstrated ability to attain sales and referral goals through preset appointments and quality conversations, leveraging system‑generated lead lists, walk‑ins, and professional contacts. Strong work ethic and high level of integrity. Excellent time‑management skills. Builds and nurtures client relationships, identifying potential clients, engaging with them to understand needs, and developing strategies to convert them into long‑term clients, while deepening existing relationships through additional products and services. Attentive to client needs, resolves issues promptly, and ensures a positive banking experience. Evaluates financial information to understand clients’ financial health, identify investment opportunities, and recommend strategies. Understands and manages risks associated with banking operations and client transactions. Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication skills to understand client needs and recommend appropriate banking products and services. Accurate and efficient handling of cash transactions. Physical Demands Consumer retail – prolonged standing (5‑8 hours per day), frequent use of hands to manipulate/grasp objects, ability to communicate face‑to‑face and on the phone with clients, occasional bending and lifting from floor height, frequent forward reach, frequent lifting of 1–10 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs. Driving Requirements Ability to routinely and frequently operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license. Work Location Category Branch. Compensation and Benefits This position is eligible to earn a base hourly rate in the range of $20.67 – $31.25 per hour. Placement within the pay range may differ based upon various factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, and geographic location. Compensation for this role also includes incentive compensation which may include production, commission, and/or discretionary incentives.
