Machinist II

Cooper Machinery Services

Machinist II

Urgent Hire, Sign-On Bonus Offered! Join ACI, a division of Cooper Machinery Services, and be part of a growing business built for long-term stability, and launch a real career in machining with an industry leader.

Cooper Machinery Services has been building the machines that move the world's energy since 1833. Every part our machinists cut and every tolerance they hold keeps Cooper-Bessemer™, Ajax™, Superior™, and Gemini equipment running for customers across the globe — machinery that has powered industry for generations and isn't slowing down now.

As a Machinist II, you'll bring precision, craftsmanship, and hands-on skill to one-off parts and tooling that keep our Aftermarket team — and our customers' operations — running. If you take pride in tight tolerances, clean work, and a job done right, we want you on our shop floor.

What You Will Do

  • Machine parts to precise specifications using manual lathes, mills, and drills.
  • Repair and restore parts supporting Cooper's turbocharger service business.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
  • Perform dimensional layout on machined parts and complete documentation confirming conformity to prints.
  • Apply the right surface finish, deburring, and stamping for each part.
  • Set up and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, and accessories on assigned machines.
  • Monitor feed, speed, and machine offsets (wear, geometry, cutter compensation) throughout the job.
  • Read job cards to plan product details, machining time, and quantities.
  • Keep your work area clean and safe — chips swept, oil disposed of properly, pallets maintained.
  • Follow all PPE and safety protocols, including guarding, lifting technique, and slip/fall prevention.

Who You Are

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited school or institution.
  • 2-5 years of manual machining experience, ideally in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation & controls.
  • Skilled with precision measuring tools — dial and Vernier calipers, ID mics, depth mics, ball mics.
  • Able to lift 40+ pounds and perform physical work involving standing, bending, and kneeling.
  • Comfortable reading and applying complex drawings, specifications, and trade math.
  • Clear communicator, both verbally and in writing, with basic computer skills.
  • Adaptable team player who is dependable, safety-focused, and brings a sense of urgency to the job.

Preferred

  • Vo-Tech certificate in machining or a related trade.
  • Certification to operate a forklift, pallet jack, or crane.
  • Familiarity with oilfield assemblies and parts.

Why Join Us

  • Most benefits start on day one — no waiting period.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Company-paid life, AD&D, short-term, and long-term disability coverage.
  • Voluntary life, AD&D, and long-term disability buy-up plans.
  • Voluntary accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance.
  • 401(k) with up to 5% company match — 100% vested from day one.
  • Maternity and parental leave, Arc Fertility Benefits, and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health support.
