Optometrist or Ophthalmologist – Veteran Disability Assessments

We are looking for a committed Optometrist or Ophthalmologist to join our organization in conducting medical evaluations for U.S. Veterans as part of the VA's disability benefits process. This position offers an opportunity to perform comprehensive eye examinations for Veterans in a fulfilling, non-treatment, and non-determination capacity focused exclusively on assessments.

• Conduct in-person disability evaluations for U.S. Veterans.
• Review and interpret electronic medical records through a secure online portal.
• Perform detailed eye examinations, including Visual Field Testing (VFT) .
• Accurately document examination results and complete necessary VA forms.

Note: This position does not involve treatment or the prescribing of medications. Disability determinations are made by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), not by the provider.

• Schedule: Part-Time, 3-4 days per week
• Location: In-person role
• Caseload: Average of 4-6 Veterans per day
• Equipment Provided: Computer and all necessary documentation tools

• A compassionate Optometrist or Ophthalmologist who is dedicated to assisting the Veteran community.
• Strong analytical abilities to review medical records and assessment data.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in electronic documentation and web-based systems.
• A professional and empathetic approach when interacting with Veterans.

• Possession of an active and unrestricted Optometrist or Ophthalmologist license.
• Experience with Visual Field Testing (VFT) .
• Comfortable utilizing technology for record review and documentation.
