The Student Services Analyst performs at a fully-proficient, professional level in the Financial Aid Department. This position will perform independent evaluation and analysis of all aspects related to financial aid, including determining award amounts and making awards in various programs. The Student Services Analyst will manage the scholarship program as well as be responsible for reconciliation of scholarships and partnerships with scholarship organizations and donors. This position oversees all Tribal funding and athletic funding related to MCC scholarships. This position responds to and solves complex problems. Essential Functions
25% - Develops, analyzes, coordinates and implements program functions and activities for scholarship programs; manages, awards and evaluates scholarship programs (which include college, state, MCCCD Foundation, private, 3rd party, athletic and tribal programs) as well as state, college, and federal programs in compliance with all relevant regulations; provides oversight and supervision of MCC's scholarship programs by auditing and reconciling all existing and new scholarship accounts to ensure that accounts are being properly administered, and ensures that awarded scholarships fall within established guidelines. 20% - Serves as a liaison to the MCC Development Office and MCCCD Foundation by maintaining an accurate record of scholarships held on campus; works with college Fiscal staff and Foundation staff concerning student awards and scholarship balances; serves as liaison for the institution in regards to scholarship issues and questions; serves as a subject matter expert for scholarship programs and administrative responsibilities; monitors fund balances, disbursements, adjustments and year-end procedures. 25% - Serves as a program and customer liaison providing program and policy advisement and related information; responds to inquiries and requests from students, parents, donors and staff via multiple modalities regarding scholarship eligibility and awards; advises students and parents in multiple modalities on questions related to Title IV financial aid eligibility (including financial aid methodology, disbursement of aid, cost of attendance, student aid index, and aid eligibility requirements); reviews program requirements criteria to evaluate and determine eligibility; evaluates policy to determine and ensure program compliance; monitors continued eligibility and analyzes and determines student satisfactory academic progress (SAP); develops, coordinates and facilitates the logistics of financial aid and scholarship trainings, meetings, programs/special events and workshops for current and prospective students on campus and in the community. 10% - Works with other specialized departments including Student Affairs Departments, faculty with talent waivers, Honors, bookstore scholarships, emergency scholarships, Mesa Promise Grant, Maricopa Promise Grant, and early college scholarships and grants. 20% - Assists financial aid in awarding and reports (including loans, federal work-study, and Pell Grants); provides comprehensive student support services at the front counter and/or virtual front counter, oversees schedule assignments as needed, and provides coverage as needed for in-person student services.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Desired Qualifications
A. Experience in coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating scholarships, Title IV aid, or related programs.
B. Experience with Federal Title IV financial aid programs, awarding, eligibility requirements, disbursements, and supporting regulations. C. Experience with federal, state, donor, and/or institutional rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for grants and scholarships. D. Experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating activities and workshops.
E. Experience utilizing internal/external databases necessary for awarding student financial aid such as PeopleSoft (SIS), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) and Central Processing System (CPS). F. Experience using a computer or web-based technology in the delivery of programs and services (i.e. PeopleSoft, Financial Management Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Academic Works, Scholarship Manager, or other online scholarship software).
G. One year of relevant full-time MCCCD experience during the previous two years. Special Working Conditions
