TravelNurseSource is working with TalentBurst, Inc. to find a qualified PACU/Pre-Post Op RN in Atlanta, Georgia, 30301!

Job Title: Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Duration: 13 Weeks

Location:
1000 Johnson Ferry Road NE
Atlanta, GA 30342

Schedule:

  • 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM Varies
  • 3 x 12-hour shifts
  • 36 hours/week

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU experience within the specialty.
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.
  • Current AHA ACLS certification required.
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required.
  • Experience with Cerner EMR preferred/required.
  • No local candidates within 50 miles .

Unit Information

  • Department: PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit)
  • Unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week .
  • Holiday call coverage is required.
  • Cares for higher-acuity post-operative patients.
  • Unit is supported by a Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor .

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from surgical procedures.
  • Perform immediate post-operative assessments, including airway management, neurological status, pain evaluation, and hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, and overall patient stability during the recovery phase.
  • Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, blood products, and pain management therapies according to physician orders.
  • Identify and respond promptly to post-operative complications, including respiratory distress, bleeding, cardiac events, and altered neurological status.
  • Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe patient recovery.
