Bus Driver - Transportation Dept 2026-2027 School Year Starting salary $23.25/hour 174 calendar days / 6 hours per day Primary Purpose Operate school bus and related equipment to provide safe and orderly transportation of students and other authorized persons on assigned route, to, and from other designated locations. Qualifications & Requirements Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license (CDL) with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements Have a safe driving history Able to pass a DOT physical, drug screen, and background qualifications process Special Knowledge/Skills Must be 18 years of age Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam Ability to complete required bus driver safety training Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to use maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) to follow routes and locate addresses Ability to manage student behavior Ability to communicate effectively with others Ability to operate bus Benefits 5 Local leave days + 5 State leave days. Prorated for part-time hours. AISD employee childcare. Based on availability. District paid $300/month insurance contribution for eligible employees. Contingent upon enrollment in a medical insurance plan.
