DME Certified Respiratory Therapist- Meridian

The role coordinates the overall provision of respiratory care. It plans, develops, implements respiratory care programs, and sets up all types of positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy as ordered by physicians. The position educates patients on proper and safe use of equipment, monitors patient compliance data, and conducts follow‑up with patients and physicians per departmental policy. Responsibilities Set up respiratory and PAP therapy equipment. Monitor patient compliance. Communicate with physicians and serve as a resource on PAP therapy. Participate in process improvement initiatives and resolve patient issues. Adapt interactions to respect privacy, customize service explanations, obtain permissions, and use appropriate communication style. Perform other related duties as required. Education Associates degree in Science or a related field. Graduate of an AMA‑approved school of respiratory therapy. Work Experience Required: None. Preferred: Experience with Positive Airway Pressure therapy (CPAP or BiPAP) and/or fluency in another language. Certifications Required: Current valid state license/certification as a Certified Respiratory Therapist. BLS: Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficiency with Windows‑style applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to different levels of individuals. Knowledge of respiratory equipment. Reliable transportation to travel to patient homes for set‑up/monitoring. Availability to be on‑call for patient needs. Physical and Environmental Demands Medium work involving occasional lifting of 20–50 pounds, frequent lifting of 10–25 pounds, and constant handling of negligible weights. Requires walking or standing significant periods, pushing or pulling of arm or leg controls, and operating at a production pace that may be physically demanding. Mechanical lifting devices or team lifts should be utilized. Must travel between facilities. Normal routine includes no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue and no emergency care or first aid.
