School Health Assistant

Assist District Coordinator with nursing services, first aid, illness, and emergency care of students and staff in accordance with school policy and procedures. Correctly administer medication according to documentation provided including insulin, EPI pen, rectal diazepam, and respirator medications such as inhalers. Assist District Health Coordinator in maintaining accurate medical records in compliance with state requirements, including but not limited to immunizations, physical examinations, medical conditions, and medications. Maintain accurate and timely log of all students and staff visits and documentation of individual health records. Complete mandated screenings for vision and hearing within the specified time period. Maintain professional communication with administrators, teachers, other school personnel, and parent/guardians to enhance cooperative action to meet the health and safety need of students. Proficiently utilize district email and Power School for communication and records. Ensure accident/incident reports for students and staff are submitted to Principal in a timely manner. Attend informational sessions and successfully complete training as needed on topics including but not limited to OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogen Standards, CPR, AED, and first aid. Attend regular Health Assistant Meetings. Create warm, inviting, and welcoming environment in the school office. Maintain strictest confidentiality regarding all student and staff issues. Ensure all duties are completed in a manner that will improve, facilitate, or have a positive impact on student learning. Other duties as assigned.
