Overview Senior Pastor position leading Sunday morning worship and prayer meeting on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 pm to approximately 7:15 pm. Maintaining pastoral visitation, develop and nurture relationships with both the Grayson Baptist Assn. and our local ministerial alliance. The Pastor Search Committee of Cannon Baptist Church sought the input of our church family to help us understand the kind of man we will be searching for in our next bi-vocational pastor. Conversations have been full of joyful expectation, and while there was a wide range of variety on answers to some degree, there was great unity overall. CBC is searching for a pastor who is committed to the inerrancy and authority of the Bible. He will agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and will lead our church on the strong foundations of biblical authority. We desire a man who is being transformed by God’s Word himself, as he leads our congregation to be transformed by God’s Word as well. He will be a text-driven expositor of the biblical text. He will be relational in his delivery, and firm in his convictions. Our next pastor will be easily approachable, a man who is skilled in relationship building. He will value the insight of long-time members of the church but not cater to any on (or group’s) desire to the neglect of another’s. He will make biblical decisions concerning the direction of the church and communicate them with grace while leading gently over time. If he has a family, he will put God first, his family second and the church third. We desire a pastor who models faithful leadership in the home and allows that to overflow into his leadership at church. The area around CBC is on the cusp of amazing growth and it is our prayer that CBC will be part of that growth. As such, it would also be our prayer that this bi-vocational position would eventually transition into a full-time senior pastor position. Cannon Baptist Church of Van Alstyne, Texas is a church family committed to biblical preaching, heartfelt worship, and meaningful fellowship. The current membership includes many faithful empty nesters and senior adults who form the core of the congregation, while new families have joined even in recent months. The church currently hosts one adult Sunday School class and a Wednesday evening prayer meeting. While attendance numbers reflect a season of rebuilding, there is unity within the congregation and a sincere desire to grow both spiritually and numerically. The church campus is well positioned for strategic growth. Cannon Baptist sits on a spacious property that includes a Family Life Center, a nursery, multiple classrooms, and acreage suitable for future ministry expansion. The available facilities provide a significant opportunity for community engagement and future development. Financially, the church is debt free and practices responsible stewardship of its resources. The absence of debt, combined with spacious and versatile facilities, positions the church for stability and long-term growth. Cannon Baptist Church is a close-knit congregation with a heart for faithfulness and renewal. Members express a desire to reach families in the growing Van Alstyne community and to see the church strengthened for the next generation. With a strong foundation, available space for expansion, and a community experiencing rapid growth, Cannon Baptist looks forward with anticipation to what God will do through the leadership of its next pastor. This represents nearly 30 percent growth within five years and reflects significant expansion in the region. The city of Van Alstyne continues to experience steady growth and is currently the fastest growing city in Grayson County. In the immediate 1 mile radius around the church, the community reflects a concentrated residential pocket marked by strong married couple households and long-term stability. The area includes a notable presence of managerial and executive level professionals and represents a well-established neighborhood base for the church. There are more than 8,100 households within the broader 5.5 mile area, with continued residential developments underway. The majority of households are married couples, though single parent households are increasing. The community remains suburban and family oriented while expanding steadily in overall size. Ethnically, the population is primarily Anglo with a growing Hispanic presence. Over the next five years, the Asian non-Hispanic population is projected to grow by approximately 1.15 percent, while the African American population is projected to grow by approximately 1.44 percent. The generational profile reflects a strong Gen X presence, with Millennials and Gen Z projected to grow steadily in the coming years.
