We already have wonderful help from nearby family and a housekeeper, so this role is about thoughtfully filling the gaps—helping our home run smoothly, anticipating needs, and creating more space for us to enjoy time together. You're open to learning the parenting approaches that work best for this family and enjoy partnering with parents to create consistency and connection.The ideal candidate will also:Enjoy creating systems and maintaining an organized, well-functioning household.Build genuine, long-term relationships and become a trusted part of the family's team.Be patient, kind, and confident working with young children while remaining calm during challenging moments.Communicate clearly, reliably, and professionally.A strong commitment to maintaining a clean, comfortable home environment that supports children's health and well-being, including thoughtful practices like regular handwashing.Key ResponsibilitiesFamily Support & Child AssistanceAfter-school pickups: preschooler pickup early afternoon around 1:30 PM; older children pickup between 3:15 - 4:45 pm depending on after school activity scheduleProvide warm, engaging after-school support, helping the children transition from the school day through snacks, activities, and a calm, positive afternoon routineEmpty and prep backpacks daily; organize school paperwork for the parentsProactively schedule playdates and/or organize afternoon activities and build relationships with other caregivers in the communityHousehold Organization & MaintenanceCreate and maintain household organizational systems throughout the homeDaily reset: light tidying, dishes, surfaces, and high-traffic vacuuming to keep the home prepped and clean between cleaner visits (1x per week)Seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swapsPrepare items for donation and coordinate drop-offsChange batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, and filters as neededAssist with packing for travel and outings as neededInventory & ErrandsManage pantry, fridge, and household supply inventory; note when items are running lowFill-in grocery runs between weekly scheduled orders done by familyHandle package receiving and breakdown; manage returns and dry cleaning as neededMeal Planning & PrepBatch cooking to keep the fridge stocked with weekly meals & ready-to-use ingredients: grains, chopped vegetables, proteins, and healthy snacksKitchen cleanup following any cooking or meal prepMonitor fridge for expired items and replace as neededAll meal prep adheres to the family's kosher-style guidelines (no shellfish or pork)Laundry & LinensWash, fold, and organize family laundry.
