Unit Overview

Required Certifications

• BLS

Required Experience

Must have OR experience in at least one of the following:

• Cardiac Surgery
• Thoracic Surgery
• Vascular Surgery

Strong Preference: Vascular Surgery experience

Required Vascular Procedures

Candidates should have experience with:

• Peripheral artery bypass
• AAA repair (open and EVAR)
• Carotid endarterectomy
• Fistula creation
• Amputations
• Endovascular procedures:
  • EVAR
  • TCAR
  • TAG

Additional Preferred Experience

• Sedation administration
• Thoracic surgery
• Open vascular procedures
• Endovascular surgery

RN Responsibilities

• Circulating
• Procedural sedation
• Intraoperative patient management

Common Surgical Cases

Cardiac

• CABG
• Valve repair/replacement
• Robotic cardiac procedures
• ECMO
• Heart transplant

Thoracic

• Lung resections
• VATS
• Esophagectomy
• POEM procedures
• Hiatal hernia repairs
• Mediport placement
• EGD
• GI and respiratory stenting

Vascular

• Diagnostic angiography
• Percutaneous vascular interventions
• Endarterectomy
• Dialysis access procedures
• AAA repair (open and endovascular)
• Visceral artery procedures
• Amputations

Call Requirements

• Mandatory Call
• 1 weekday call shift per week
• 1 weekend call per month
• 30-minute response time
• Housing may be available during call shifts if needed

Holiday Requirements

• Included in holiday call rotation as needed

Floating

• May float within other Heart & Vascular Institute service lines

Dress Code

• Hospital-provided Ceil Blue surgical scrubs
