PROFILE REVIEW+MANAGER INTERVIEW


- # of Beds: 7
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2-3
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients: routine Peds stable MS, ages 0-18 years, intermediate peds, ICU feeder grower overflow (surgical- ortho, appys, GI, MVAs), respiratory, diabetics, seizure, failure to thrive, jaundice- bili babies (rare)
- Experience or 'Must have' skills: 2 years of Peds/MS nursing experience, Prefer PICU, must be able to titrate drips.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips? yes
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips Tylenol, Keppra, Insulin(will consider without Insulin exp)
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? No, only 2 nurses on the unit and both work together
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Only when busier, above census of 5 there can be a tech/ helping hands
- Pediatrician in house 24/7? In house 7 days a week until 5p, on call at night
- RT Equipment: Cpap, high flow and nasal cannula, minimal troubleshooting, RT in house 24/7
- Are there tele/monitor techs on this unit? Remote tele, someone on another floor reading.
- Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Phillips RN do not need to read and interpret shifts.
- Shifts & Scheduling: Days 7a-7p, Nights 7p-7a or D/N Rotate - self scheduling based on seniority - Manager will consider block scheduling if meets unit needs.
- Weekend Requirement: EOW or Every 3rd Weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 2 per year
- Is there Call or a Standby requirement? n/a
- Floating Requirements: as census fluctuates, RN to primarily to float to NICU and newborn nursery but could be utilized for 1:1 sitting
- Scrub Color/Dress Code/Scrubs provided? Any color
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? 2- 12 hour shifts
