We welcome all applicants to apply to this position for consideration of any of these available specialty areas.Job Summary: A Licensed Practical Nurse is employed by Erlanger Medical Center is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient under the direct supervision of a Physician or RN. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.Education: Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Preferred: PALS certification preferred.Experience: Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education. Must be able to work well with people. Always poised, courteous, pleasing personality, good telephone voice and able to meet the public. Preferred: Previous pediatric experience preferred.Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee and/or Georgia BLS completed prior to going to the unit/ department and maintained going forward.Department Position Summary: The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures. This is done through evaluation of direct supervisor by direct observation, in a skills lab, or discussed verbally or written. Competency can also be evaluated by a formal peer review process and/or by self assessment based on objective criteria that is reviewed and validated.Ability to assess and reassess patients, select, develop, implement and evaluate plan of care. Ability to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered and have understanding of medication before administering (classification, adverse effects, therapeutic actions, indications, drug interactions, onset, duration, etc).
