Material Planner V

Job Summary Material Planner V will lead the management and execution of all phases of the assigned program production plans. The role coordinates with program scheduler/planner, determines production schedule requirements, and integrates with key program functions and suppliers to develop, maintain and drive successful and timely execution of detailed production plans. The primary focus is on programs in the prototyping, design and development portion of the product life cycle, requiring strong organizational and planning experience. Responsibilities Partner with program manager and team members from supply chain, quality and operations to strategize and create a plan that ensures production schedules and supply/demand requirements are aligned to meet program deliverables. Communicate with program teams, company management, business partners and customers both spoken and written. Coordinate with the program team to develop the production schedule based on lead time analysis of each supplier or operation to meet program need dates according to the program IMS. Plan, direct and monitor execution of the production schedule through the release of engineering drawings, purchase requisitions, purchase orders and tracking supplier status to ensure timely order fulfillment. Create and utilize tools to status ongoing efforts in all stages of the production plan, enabling active management. Work closely with VTS management and the program team to identify early and proactively elevate supply/demand risks and critical shortage issues. Conduct status meetings with internal and external customers. Develop processes for monitoring and reporting production capacity, purchasing activities and critical shortages. Support the development and implementation of performance metrics such as on‑time purchase requisition issuance and delivery to contract and manufacturing. Collaborate with program staff to ensure adequate direction regarding supply and demand requirements and that all program deliverables are met satisfactorily. Manage order demand within Costpoint or equivalent MRP system. Ensure adherence to all internal supply chain and operations processes. Participate in customer meetings, peer reviews and problem‑solving meetings. Other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management or related field. Minimum 20 years of production control, material planning and/or production scheduling experience, including at least 5 years managing DoD propulsion‑related programs. Minimum 5 years of experience working in prototyping, design and development programs. Experience managing DoD programs for the U.S. Government. Experience across ERP systems such as MRP, Costpoint, SAP, Oracle or similar tools. Direct experience managing large subcontracts. Experience briefing program teams, executive management and customers on production plan status, risks and future. Ability to multi‑task in a highly collaborative environment while solving problems quickly and accurately, particularly in MRP and BOM exceptions. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and overall knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Project). Experience using and managing ERP/MRP systems. Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level (requires U.S. Citizenship). Preferred Qualifications Experience with AS9100 and DCMA standards. Demonstrated expertise in Master Production Scheduling. Experience with lean and Six Sigma principles. Experience working Missile Defense Agency programs with MAP/PMAP requirements. Familiarity with Lean Enterprise Institute principles or equivalent in manufacturing, quality or supply chain management. Experience with Integrated Program Management Tools. Currently holds an active DoD Secret Clearance. Compensation California pay range: $130,000—$150,000 USD.
