Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) to join our surgical team. This position may require floating between various units and includes on-call duties during nights and weekends. The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive surgical care in various specialties.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Day 4x10-Hour (07:00 - 17:00)
• On-call Requirements: Yes, variable on weekends and nights (8 shifts/month)
• Weekend Requirements: Yes, every 3rd or 4th weekend based on rotation and time-off requests

Unit Details

This role encompasses various areas within the surgical department, including:

• Pre-operative and Post-operative care
• Circulating duties
• Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)
• Endoscopy procedures

Specialties include Obstetrics/Gynecology (OBGYN), Orthopedic, Gastrointestinal/General Surgery (GI/GS), Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT), Pain Management, and Dental.

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years as an OR RN
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, PALS
• Charting System Experience: Epic is the electronic medical record (EMR) system used
• Previous Charge Experience: Preferred

Skills Required

Ideal candidates should possess skills in the following areas:

• Abdominal/Vaginal hysterectomy
• C-sections
• Colonoscopy and EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
• Laparoscopic and open surgical procedures
• Wound management
• Conscious sedation monitoring
• Infection control and safety protocols

Patient Care Details

The role involves caring for a diverse patient population, including adults, pediatrics, and geriatrics. Responsibilities may include working within pre-op, endoscopy, OR, and PACU (Phase I and II). This position requires a clinician who is well-rounded in surgical services and adaptable across departments.
