Associate Medical Director Hospitalist (MM FTE 0.40)

Responsibilities Company Description The Queen's Health System is a non-profit healthcare organization with four hospitals, over 70 specialty health care locations, and labs throughout the Pacific region, including Hawai'i. With a rich history of serving the people of Hawai'i, Queen's is the state's largest employer, with over 10,000 caregivers, medical staff and leadership. Queen's is accredited by The Joint Commission and is the only hospital in Hawai'i to achieve Magnet status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Our state-of-the-art facilities serve as the major referral center for cancer, cardiovascular disease, neuroscience, orthopedics, surgery, emergency medicine, behavioral health medicine, and is a major teaching hospital.
I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the operational and administrative activities of the Hospitalist Program to ensure adequate Hospitalist coverage to deliver high quality patient centered care.
• Fosters communication and teamwork between the Hospitalist Program and QMC's staff by representing the program on committees, and coordinating related efforts and information with the Hospitalist Program.
• Provides oversight and mentoring of new Hospitalists to the program.
• Works closely with the Hospitalist Program's Medical Director and Leadership Team to appropriately represent the Hospitalist Program in a unified and concerted manner regarding their part in accomplishing QMC's mission and goals.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Essential: finger dexterity, seeing, hearing, speaking.
• Continuous: sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: walking.
• Occasional: standing, stooping/bending, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at and below shoulder level, frequent gripping of an object.
• Operates computer, calculator, telephone, fax, printer. III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious agents is an occupational risk; therefore, standard safety regulations must be maintained to avoid contamination. IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or EC FMG certification.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
• Board certified in Internal Medicine.
• BLS and ACLS certification. B. EXPERIENCE:
• During the period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the QMC medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.
• Qualified for an appointment on the faculty of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine.
• Minimum five (5) years experience in Hospitalist Medicine. Addendum to all Physician Job Descriptions for The Queen's Medical Center and The Queen's Health System Effective December, 2019, the previous requirement involving cardio pulmonary resuscitation training for physicians, such as Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Emergency Assessment Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) is no longer in effect.
