Pharmacy Manager

The Retail Pharmacy Manager leads a pharmacy team in providing exceptional patient care, supporting novel programs, onboarding new staff, and ensuring compliance with all regulations. Responsibilities Live our purpose by managing patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices. Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, strengthen performance measures through coaching. Ensure accurate prescription fulfillment, directing and monitoring adherence to workflow and safety guardrails. Contribute to positive patient experiences through empathy and genuine care; coach staff on compassionate care. Proactively offer and deliver immunizations; support technicians in learning immunization protocols. Manage pharmacy inventory, especially cold chain products, and coach staff on best practices. Conduct onboarding for technicians and pharmacists, ensuring timely training and licensure completion. Maintain compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations, escalating concerns as needed. Partner with the Store Manager to build a healthy talent pipeline and oversee scheduling. Review business reporting, develop action plans, and implement improvements across service, patient care, and compliance. Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion, enabling psychological safety and feedback. Maintain clinical and technical skills through required trainings and continuing medical education. Support access to care by delivering pharmacist‑delivered clinical services such as testing and prescribing services where permissible. Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, ethical principles, CVS policies, controlled substance record‑keeping, and patient privacy. Essential Functions & Physical Demands Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription accuracy. Strong customer service and team orientation, with active listening and communication skills. Mathematical reasoning for dosage calculations and inventory counts. Problem‑resolution skills for challenging interactions. Physical demands: mobile, upright for extended periods, lift items up to 20 lbs, reach overhead, use fingers repetitively, use vision acuity for small tasks. Express ideas orally and read detailed verbal instructions accurately. Team Management and Leadership Lead by example, delegate, empower, and foster a collaborative environment. Motivate team to adhere to standards and achieve high performance. Apply problem‑solving skills, adapt, and take ownership of changes. Coach, reinforce, provide feedback, discipline, and possibly terminate members. Conduct performance reviews, close gaps, and provide continuous development. Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. 1–2 years of experience as a Pharmacist. Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM‑EL) program. 3–5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service setting. Ability to work in the home store and across market locations as business needs arise. Compensation & Benefits Anticipated Weekly Hours: 30 Pay Range: $65.00 – $85.00 per hour (or salary) based on experience, education, geography. Eligible for CVS Health bonus, commission, or short‑term incentive programs.
