Travel Psych Nurse (RN) in Mount Washington, KY

Bring your expertise to a specialized behavioral health setting focused on adolescent care. In this rewarding contract opportunity, you will provide compassionate, skilled psychiatric nursing within a 23-bed unit serving patients ages 4-12, many with complex trauma histories and challenging behaviors. The facility offers strong leadership support, structured resources for safety, and collaborative interdisciplinary teams.


Schedule:

• Three 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend rotation every third weekend
• Holiday coverage according to facility schedule

Desired Qualifications:

• Active RN license in good standing
• BLS certification (CPI will be provided on site)
• Minimum 6 months of recent psychiatric RN experience
• At least one prior travel assignment completed
• Experience with adolescent behavioral health, including de-escalation, milieu management, and physical holds
• Proficient in IM medication administration; comfortable caring for medically cleared asthma patients
• Ability to independently manage a unit and multiple escalated situations concurrently
• Adaptability with floating to different patient populations (children through adults) as needed

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver evidence-based psychiatric nursing care, with a focus on safety and therapeutic intervention
• Assess, intervene, and document episodes of aggression, self-harm, and behavioral escalation
• Administer medications and utilize unit-specific equipment as required
• Collaborate closely with mental health technicians, therapists, case managers, and security staff
• Maintain detailed records within Cerner EMR and ensure compliance with all protocols
