Agency Dept of Health and Human Services Division Rehabilitation Counselor Supervisor (NS) Position Number The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. This position is located in Durham County, Durham unit office. This position provides leadership and day to day administrative operation of the Durham office, The Counselor in Charge will assist the Unit Manager with work which involves planning, implementing, and evaluating the technical and administrative components of a diverse rehabilitation program’s day-to-day operations. The Counselor in Charge also works with the Unit Manager and staff to achieve unit goals for productivity and quality customer service. This position will be responsible for daily supervision, leadership and assigned casework supervision and approval for Rehabilitation Counselors and other assigned staff. This position directly supervises 5 Rehabilitation Counselors with a general caseload, 2 Casework Technicians, and 1 Human Services Coordinator. Assist individuals on the caseload with job development, job placement and other services to complete a rehabilitation plan for employment.

• Administrative management tasks to include casework approvals to ensure quality service delivery for the assigned coverage area, budget development and performance management/improvement.
• Staff development/training, and consultation/technical assistance to subordinate staff
• Work may include other related assignments as determined by Unit Manager Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
