Job Description

Prospera Executive has been instructed on a Controller search for a profitable, PE-backed portfolio company.

This is a hands-on, individual-contributor mandate for someone who wants to own the close and cash cycle directly rather than manage a large team. The Controller will take full ownership of the monthly close, daily cash positioning and internal controls, and will act as the CFO's key working-level partner on the company's financial health, using data, analytics and BI tools to turn the close from a reporting exercise into a source of real insight.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and execute the monthly, quarterly and annual close end to end, including journal entries, reconciliations and close checklists, and maintain a GAAP-compliant general ledger.

• Manage day-to-day cash positioning and bank balances, post payments, and resolve payment exceptions with the same rigor applied to month-end close.
\n
• Coordinate annual audit fieldwork and maintain documentation supporting internal controls over close, cash and billing.
\n
• Use data analysis to surface trends, variances and anomalies proactively, going beyond standard close reporting to give the CFO actionable insight.

• Leverage AI and automation to streamline recurring accounting tasks (reconciliations, payment posting, exception monitoring) and build dashboards or BI reporting (NetSuite analytics, Power BI or similar) for real-time visibility into cash and close status.

• Provide targeted support to the CFO on financial modeling and board-level data as required.

Ideal Candidate

\n
• Demonstrated ability to independently own and execute a full close cycle, including reconciliations and GAAP-compliant reporting.
\n
• Comfortable as an individual contributor doing the work directly, with minimal to no direct reports.
\n
• Analytical by instinct, able to move beyond transaction processing to interpret data and communicate insight that informs decisions.

• Experience within an ERP environment (NetSuite preferred) and proficiency with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau or similar).

• CPA preferred, with 5+ years of progressive accounting experience and strong command of GAAP and internal control principles.
