MRI Technologist

Job Summary:

The MRI Technologist is responsible for operating MRI equipment to produce diagnostic images, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the scanning process. This role involves preparing patients, coordinating with physicians to facilitate timely diagnostic results, maintaining a clean and safe scanning environment, and documenting procedures while preserving patient confidentiality. The technologist must be skilled in IV insertion when necessary and able to stand for extended periods during imaging sessions. Responsibilities:

• Operate MRI machinery efficiently to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
• Prepare and explain procedures to patients to ensure their comfort and cooperation.
• Coordinate with physicians to ensure timely receipt and interpretation of imaging results.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the scanning facility.
• Insert IVs when required for contrast-enhanced imaging studies.
• Document all procedures accurately while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.
• Perform patient care tasks as needed during imaging procedures.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Associate degree in Magnetic Resonance Imaging or Radiology.
• Current NYS Radiologic Technologist license.
• Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Injection certification for contrast administration.
• Minimum of 2 years MRI technologist experience.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Experience with GE MRI scanners.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and familiarity with medical terminology.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment.
• Prior experience with EPIC electronic health record system within the last year.

Special Considerations:

• Willingness to obtain required certifications post-hiring if not currently held.
• Work includes overnight shifts and holiday coverage as per unit needs.
• Strict adherence to patient confidentiality and safety protocols.

Scheduling:

• Sunday through Thursday, 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM shift.
• Shift assignment for a 17-week duration.
• Holiday shifts assigned based on unit requirements.
