Job Summary
The enrollment counselor is a representative of Southeastern University and responsible for those areas relating to the recruiting, processing, and evaluation of applicants for admission. Enrollment services may include, but are not limited to, community outreach, new student recruitment, communication regarding specifics about the academic and co-curricular programs of SEU, explanation of financial aid processes, new student advising, and participation in promotional events both on and off campus. The enrollment counselor will be responsible for making decisions on undergraduate admission to the university, and as such must exercise discretion and independent judgment on a regular basis with respect to matters of significance for the university. Both extensive seasonal travel and daily office work are required of the position as they are necessary toward the recruitment of prospective students, evaluation of admission, and the enrollment of incoming student populations to the university.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for all functions and processes related to the recruitment of prospective students from initial inquiry through point of enrollment toward the achievement of the university's overall enrollment goals.
- Development and management of successful recruiting strategies to achieve personal enrollment goals within an assigned territory. Enrollment counselors will manage a caseload of up to 600 prospective students at one time.
- Contact, visit and inform prospective high school and transfer students about SEU programs, culture, mission, and life on campus, ensuring that recruitment targets are met in regard to inquiry, application, acceptance, and enrollment goals.
- Responsible for maintaining up to date records, tracking statistics, gathering data, maintaining a database of students, and completing routine reports related to projections and conversions of inquiries, applicants, admits, and enrolled student recruitment. The position assists in developing, reviewing, and updating policies and procedures relating to admission based on past processes and student success rates.
- Develop, plan and implement recruitment travel within assigned territory in order to establish pipelines, create networks, and facilitate the achievement of enrollment goals. Attend college fairs, conferences, and conventions, conduct high school visits, church visits, and other recruitment activities. Exercise creativity and innovation in planning recruitment events and assigned projects and daily activities. Transport promotional materials and marketing collateral to and from event locations.
- Recruit students by conducting informational and evaluative interviews; advising prospective students on educational and career decisions. Manage public relations by answering & initiating communication to/from prospective students and families, maintaining rapport with students and families, high school administrators, counselors, teachers, pastors and SEU alumni; communicating application status, facilitating student enrollment and providing solutions to enrollment issues.
- Maintain a consistent flow of communication via email, traditional mail, texting, and phone calls with prospective students in order to establish a relationship between the student and SEU. Consistently achieve daily contact and activity goals.
- Articulate the mission of SEU to a variety of individuals, acting as a liaison between SEU and college counselors/administrators, students, parents, alumni, pastors, corporations, churches and/or governmental agencies. Establish and cultivate positive relationships with guidance counselors and ministry leaders through visits and continued correspondence.
- Serve as a liaison with SEU's academic departments or special programs as assigned by providing analytics, details, presentations or information sessions for accurate representation of the admission process to prospective students applying to those departments or programs. Direct matriculating freshman and transfer students to appropriate campus resources to create seamless transition to SEU (e.g. housing, registrar, financial aid, first year experience, etc.)
- Compile, review, determine acceptance, and process prospective student applications for enrollment from assigned territory. This process includes the evaluation of applicant transcripts, test scores, and supporting documents; determining the prospective student's educational needs and the appropriateness and fit of a SEU education.
- Conduct affordability and financial literacy conversations with families in regard to their financial aid offer letter. Make recommendations to the student financial services office for high need first-year and transfer students.
- Manage, plan and coordinate special recruitment events as assigned, including having an active presence at on and off campus visit events. Provide excellent customer service and an exceptional student experience.
- Responsible for the management and oversight of student worker(s). Works with office support staff in coordinating all clerical and student help. Oversees day-to-day issues and activities.
- Provide consistent feedback to the Director of Traditional Enrollment on enrollment processes, suggesting ways to improve future efforts.

Education
Required Education:
Bachelor's in Business, Education, Marketing, Student Services or other related field.
Preferred Education:
Master's in Business, Education or other related degree.

Required:
At least one year of administrative experience using computers (preferably Google Suite software), telephone systems and office equipment is required.
Preferred:
Experience in higher education admissions, sales, customer service, or related field, including as an undergraduate student. Experience with CRM recruitment or sales software. Familiarity with analyzing and interpreting data.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
The enrollment counselor position demands a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. Operating within the highest ethical standards and integrity in all aspects of the role, the enrollment counselor must also maintain ethical practices and the confidentiality of student information. Essential skills for this position include strong independent judgment, initiative, and critical thinking. Superior interpersonal and public speaking abilities are crucial, along with highly developed written and oral communication skills. The role also requires strong organizational and analytical skills, with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in customer service and the ability to interface with diverse populations are necessary. The counselor must work independently and maintain a schedule, while also contributing to and collaborating within a team environment. The ability to use discretion within current policies and procedures and recommend process improvements is important. A valid driver's license is required.
Preferred:
- Preferred knowledge and skills for the enrollment counselor position include proficiency with Microsoft Office software, PowerBI reporting software, Salesforce CRM software, and/or Jenzabar SIS software.
- Familiarity with SEU's academic programming, student activities, residential life, athletic programs, learning support services, and other extracurricular programs and services is highly valuable.
- An understanding of the policies and procedures for distributing student financial aid is beneficial, along with financial literacy skills for managing expenses and reimbursements.
- Knowledge of SEU's multicultural and religious diversity is important.
- Effective personnel management techniques, as well as skills in project management, organization, and office management, are advantageous.
- Additionally, an awareness of the advances and effective methods in higher education recruitment approaches, strategies, and tools is preferred.

- Extended work hours and weekends may be required during periods of high volume during enrollment periods.
Physical Requirements:
The position requires occasional lifting of large quantities of recruiting materials and display equipment weighing 30-50 pounds.

Schedule:
40 hours per week is required. Regular hours are 9am - 5:30pm M-F. Seasonal hours during peak travel months include evening & weekend work. Some extended hours required during peak admission months.
Training
All new hires and employees transferring into a new position will have a 90-day probationary period within which to learn the functions of the job and to be evaluated. Following the probationary period, the employee can transition to regular status, have the probationary period extended in order to receive more training, or employment can be terminated.
