Merchandise Specialist

Soni is partnering with a leading global fashion and luxury brand seeking a highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented Outlet Merchandising Specialist to join its Retail Merchandising team in New York City. This position will support merchandising operations across a national outlet retail network, with a focus on inventory optimization, replenishment, assortment planning, promotional activities, and sales performance. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of retail merchandising, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to make data-driven recommendations that improve inventory productivity and overall business performance. Responsibilities: Monitor inventory levels, sales performance, and sell-through across outlet locations. Identify replenishment needs based on sales trends, stock availability, and business priorities. Prepare and manage reorders to maintain optimal inventory levels. Coordinate stock distribution and transfers between stores and warehouses. Identify slow-moving or excess inventory and recommend appropriate actions. Maintain inventory coverage and replenishment reports. Manage product assortments by location based on store performance, customer demand, and inventory availability. Support seasonal product launches and key merchandise initiatives. Analyze product performance and identify opportunities to improve assortments and maximize sell-through. Partner with retail teams to ensure merchandising strategies and guidelines are implemented effectively. Promotions & Markdown Management Assist with planning and executing promotional activities across outlet locations. Analyze sales performance to identify markdown opportunities. Recommend products and quantities for promotional events. Track promotional results and provide post-event analysis. Collaborate with retail and visual merchandising teams on promotional execution. Reporting & Analysis Prepare weekly and monthly reports covering sales, inventory, sell-through, and stock coverage. Analyze performance trends by store, product category, and SKU. Identify opportunities to improve inventory productivity and sales performance. Present data-driven recommendations to support merchandising decisions. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Retail, Operations, Visual Merchandising, and Warehouse teams. Coordinate inventory movements and replenishment activities. Support seasonal merchandising strategies and commercial initiatives. Communicate with store leadership to understand local business needs and performance trends. Qualifications: 2–4 years of experience in retail merchandising, merchandise allocation, planning, or buying, ideally within the fashion, apparel, or luxury retail industry. Strong understanding of retail inventory management, replenishment, and stock optimization. Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical and numerical abilities. Experience analyzing sales performance, sell-through, and inventory data. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments. Commercial mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations. Ability to work independently and make informed merchandising decisions. Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience supporting outlet or off-price retail businesses. Familiarity with retail systems such as SAP, Cegid, Cognos, Anaplan, or similar platforms. Experience with assortment optimization, promotional planning, and markdown analysis.
